About Our Annual Membership Meeting

CBH is hosting our annual membership meeting on May 29, and we invite you to join us for lunch, happy hour, and discussions in between. Please plan to join us from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM on May 29 at the  Merriweather Lakehouse Hotel (10209 Wincopin Circle, Columbia, MD). Our annual meeting will be followed by a happy hour from 4:30-6:30 PM.

At this event, we elect new Board members, review the state of association, and preview the year ahead.

Members cite networking as the largest value that CBH offers to members. Our annual member meeting is a great place to connect with your colleagues, draw inspiration and support, and inform our strategies for the coming year.

Social Work CEUs are available for this event, and Board of Professional Counseling CEUs are pending.

Please reach out to Allie Devine at [email protected], with any questions about the event.

Breakout Session Selection

Please select which session you would like to attend for each breakout.

  • This group coaching session will harness the collective wisdom, energy and efforts of leaders to learn from each other, build resilient networks and to grow together. By identifying their most prescient issues and opportunities in advance of the session, leaders will come together as a collective community to support each other.
The Ramsay Group brings together CEOs facing unprecedented challenges to collaborate and mentor each other over time, so that we can build resilient networks and inspire adaptive leadership.

  • Post-pandemic state audit practices have changed and substantially changed the burden on providers. Pre-pandemic, auditors came on site and reviewed files made available to them. Post-pandemic, providers are being required to individually identify documents requested and individually upload massive amounts of documents in a short amount of time.

  • This session breaks down how behavioral health policy is made and implemented in Maryland from legislation and regulation to funding and advocacy. Learn who the key players are, how federal and state systems interact, and where your voice can make a difference. Whether you’re new to advocacy or already engaged, this training will help you better navigate the system and take meaningful action.

  • Employee engagement is how the relationship between employees and an organization is measured. Arrow serves children and families across two States and employs close to a thousand staff in special education, child welfare, clinical services, and support teams. Arrow recognizes the need to intentionally and continually reaffirm and commit to its culture. Arrow completed a strategic employee engagement initiative resulting in measurable improved employee retention and engagement. Participants will learn about Arrow's Employee and Communication Engagement process from survey to plan development to implementation and can anticipate using the elements of Arrow's plan to strengthen their own employee engagement and retention.

  • Measurement-Based Care (MBC) is the routine collection and use of patient-reported outcome measures to inform collaborative treatment decisions. Recognized as a cornerstone of evidence-based behavioral health care, MBC is increasingly required by national accrediting bodies, including The Joint Commission. In this presentation, attendees will explore innovations in collective impact as they relate to MBC—what it is, its profound clinical benefits, and examples of how its use has helped secure increased funding. The session will provide an overview of the coordinated implementation of MBC among CBH members. Attendees will gain insights into clinical outcomes to date and learn how MBC has been leveraged to strengthen reimbursement advocacy, and drive additional funding. Through real-world examples and lessons learned, this session will offer actionable strategies for integrating MBC to improve outcomes, along with case studies on how it has been successfully used to secure funding in other jurisdictions

  • Change is inevitable in any organization, yet it often brings fear, resistance, and uncertainty. This presentation will explore why change is necessary, common reactions to change, and strategies for new leaders to guide their teams through transitions. Using Maryland Wellness (MDW) as a case study, we’ll examine recent leadership shifts, accountability structures, and role changes. Participants will learn to recognize resistance, understand its causes, and apply techniques to foster open communication, build trust, and involve teams in the change process. Key strategies include providing a clear vision, offering support and training, and maintaining team motivation through accountability and recognition. By reinforcing shared goals and aligning change with team values, leaders can effectively navigate uncertainty while keeping their teams engaged and focused.

  • Business Contribution Disclosure Reporting requirements (specific to Maryland law) for CEOs making political contributions, both as for-profit CEOs on behalf of their organizations and as non-profit CEOs who make an individual choice to make a contribution.

  • Maryland AHEAD Model: Opportunities for Improving Behavioral Health Care
As the State of Maryland moves forward with a new agreement with the federal government to finance health care in Maryland there are many opportunities for behavior health providers. This session will review the history of Maryland’s unique hospital payment model, outline the new federal agreement known as States Advancing All Payer Health Equity Approaches (AHEAD), review requirements for integrating behavioral health services particularly in primary care, and discuss other opportunities for behavioral health providers.

  • Toxicology testing is often viewed primarily as a tool for monitoring compliance, yet it holds untapped potential to inform clinical care, predict relapse risk, and even predict how patients are likely to respond to care. In this session, Kelly Maher, LCPC, and Albert Burgess Hull, PhD, both from MATClinics, will present how toxicology data can be leveraged to develop predictive models that support individualized treatment planning and optimize resource allocation. Using outpatient case data, the presenters will demonstrate how integrating toxicology results into clinical workflows can enhance decision-making without increasing stigma. Attendees will gain insight into data-driven approaches that align with both therapeutic goals and population-level care management.
